Hong Kong with kids
I love Hong Kong! This time I went with my kids. So here are just few tips on what to do with the totts in between time at the hotel pool.
– a family weekend trip
After breakfast by the pool at the Hyatt Hotel, we hesitated to either take the ferry around the island but voted for a trip up to the peak this time. The tram up hill was a spectacle in iteself. I held onto the rail most of the time, since I’m afraid of heights, it was a bit of a challenge. Once arrived to the top, a wonderful walk around the peak, with spectucular views in between fancy homes was all worth the while.
Don’t leave Hong Kong without meal at the Dim Sum institution at the City Hall Maxims Palace. The kids loved picking steaming bamboo baskets from the push trolleys. I think it made them try out things they probably wouldn’t eat if I had chosen it for them.
Walking in Hong Kong city is like going on a mini hike. The streets go up, mostly up, and down if you are lucky. I love getting lost in the old part of this busy Asian crossroad. Mini shops, noise, scents and local markets make great entertainment for the whole family.
Yes, we live in Tokyo and if it weren’t for the writing on the streets, we probably would have caused an accident of two. Also a reminder that Hong Kong was a colony of Great Britain. A place we’ll come again, with or without kids.
