Wandering the labyrinth of Mykonos, I stumbled across a hidden gem, tucked away four steep steps down into a cave of jewels run by an amazing woman. A jewellery designer living on the island following her inspiration giving her designs a gypsy streak I fell in love with. Truly everything about her place and designs have good vibes. I was not surprised to see that she uses incense sticks to cleanse the place to keep it that way.

The one I picked was this handmade simple evil eye charm strung onto a waxed cotton thread. The bracelet is adjustable. It keeps well in salt and sweet water. It is easy to remove slipping it over the wrist.

The evil eye, first recorded by the Mesopotamian about 5,000 years ago. We can find this figure in Jewish, Christian and Muslim cultures as well as Buddhist and Hindu societies. The evil eye is a curse believed to be cast by a malevolent glare, which is usually directed towards a person who is unaware. Many cultures believe that receiving the evil eye will cause one misfortune, bad luck or injury. This is why talismans were created to protect against the evil eye, which are also called “evil eye”.
