SOMETIMES I RUN OUT OF IDEAS ON WHAT TO DO WITH THE KIDS. WE WERE HESITATING TO GO ON A WEEKEND TRIP, A DAY TRIP OUT OF TOWN, VISIT SOME MUSEUM….BUT I LIKED THE IDEA OF LEARNING SOMETHING NEW, ALL TOGETHER.
I GOOGLED AND FOUND THIS LOVELY WORKSHOP – UZUMAKOTOUGEI – RUN BY TEIMOUR WHO USED TO LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY SO THE CLASSES ARE IN JAPANESE AND ENGLISH!
WE HAD ONE HOUR DURING WHICH SHE GAVE US SOME BASIC INITIATION AND WE ALL MANAGED TO MAKE THREE ITEMS. THERE IS THE OPTION TO GO BACK TO DO THE GLAZING ONCE THE PIECES ARE DRY, BUT FOR THIS TIME WE JUST CHOSE THE COLOR WE WANT FOR EACH DISH AND I WILL PICK THEM UP ONCE THEY ARE READY IN 4-6 WEEKS.
WE LOVE TO USE THE DISHES WE MAKE OURSELVES. IT FEELS DIFFERENT TO EAT OUT OF A HAND MADE DISH.
The class is for one hour and you can make 2 or 3 works.Finally you need to choose those which would like to keep for firing.
