Urban Garden Workshop – balcony&vertical garden

September 23 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Learning how to grow your own food, is not only the way to self-sufficiency, but it is immensely satisfying. A kind of healing practice any life coach should recommend to every client. It’s going to the basics. To nutrition, food, life. Seeing your seeds sprout and grow into something pretty and edible brings smiles on faces. So lets get our hands dirty.

Tokyo is a place of inspiration, a pot full of energy. Unfortunately there is often a lack of space in homes and sometimes when we think  of gardens. We remember the homes we grew up in where we had ‘real’ gardens. Another thing we learn in this city, is to chance perspective.  We are going vertical today!

You will be learning:

1/  How to transform your balcony into a healthy food source

2/How to create a balcony garden, a raised garden, and a 1-square-meter garden.

3/How to grow food on walls and other vertical spaces

4/Smart recycling: How to build a PET bottle fence garden

5/How to build pipe, frame and suspended gardens.

Abi, finding places and products, introducing people who inspire. A prevailer of green city lifestyle, trying to inspire to conscious consumption, healthy happy living in Tokyo.

New Zelander Jon Walsh has 6 years’ experience as a Tokyo-based urban farming/sustainability consultant and instructor. He has grown thousands of tomatoes and cucumbers, hundreds of lettuces and large quantities of other no-spray vegetables and herbs, and taught key food production skills to hundreds of school children, teachers, parents, PTA members and business people.

Jon is also having a series of urban farming articles published in Eye-Ai magazine and other media, teaches urban farming privately, at Tokyo International School and Tokyo American Club, and has been featured in The Japan Times, Eye-Ai magazine, Metropolis magazine, and the ANZCCJ website.

We will be sharing recommendations on plants, pots, organic soil with promotional deals for all our participants.
